Community business groups across the north of England have the opportunity to share their experiences and benefit from practical training at a key networking event coming up in Leeds.

The programme will feature workshops on fundraising, managing volunteers and staff, promoting health and wellbeing and boosting the local economy. It will also feature ‘speed networking’ sessions where Plunkett staff will attempt to match-make groups working on similar projects.

The event is designed to meet the needs of community groups as identified in a survey carried out by the Plunkett Foundation. It follows a successful similar event held in September in Somerset.

The Community Business Networking Event will take place on 13 November at The Studio, Whitehall Road, Leeds and groups are invited to book their places now.

All kinds of community owned and run enterprises are invited – whether they have been trading for years or are just beginning. As well as having the opportunity to network with other groups, delegates will be challenged to think about what makes a good rural community business by discussing examples of best practice and the relevance of broader national developments and debates.

James Alcock, Plunkett’s Executive Director, said:

“Thanks to feedback from our members, we’ve put together an ambitious programme for the benefit of anyone involved in a rural community business. We’re confident the mix of sessions will make for an enjoyable day, allowing people to make new contacts, learn practical skills for making their business a success and be inspired to try new things which benefit their community”.

Groups are advised to book places early to avoid disappointment.
