How to raise the money needed to set up a Community Pub

  • Start: 10th October, 2018 at 11:00am

  • End: 10th October, 2018 at 3:30pm

The Abax Stadium (Peterborough United Football Club), London Road, Peterborough, PE2 8AL

If an average pint costs £3.60, how much money are you going to need to buy the pub? This FREE event aims to explore the funding and investment opportunities available to your community group.

“I come from a culture where the pub is the centre of the community. The pub is the Internet. It’s where information is gathered, collated and addressed.” Rhys Ifans, Actor

Pull up a chair, grab yourself a drink and join in the conversations about funding and investment as part of our More Than a Pub programme event in Peterborough. We’ll be bringing all of our ideas to the table and thinking about the different ways groups can fundraise to save their local.

  • Gather with others in the same position as you, who are looking to raise money to buy the pub as a community

  • Collate ideas from pub groups that have succeeded in raising funds

  • Address your own stumbling blocks and find out what you could do in your community

This interactive session will not only be an opportunity to learn from the vast expertise of people who have been through the process already, but will offer an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the needs and concerns of your own community pub business. A free lunch will be provided and there will be lots of opportunity for the conversation to flow with others as part of a small group.

This event is aimed at groups exploring the finance options available for purchasing their local pub for the community. It will be particularly relevant to those who are in a position to apply for funding or begin fundraising activities in order to bring the pub into community ownership. We would welcome attendance from pub groups already up and running however, as places are limited, priority will be given to groups that are some way through the process of buying their pub and are looking to secure investment and funding.
