More Than a Pub Live!

  • Start: 7th February 2019

7 Cannon Street, Birmingham B2 5EP

Join us for a fun, lively and interactive event designed to celebrate and connect Community Pubs and Community Pub groups at all stages of their project.

The day will look back at what has been achieved with the support of the More than a Pub programme and ahead to the opportunities available through the recently launched Pubs Membership project. More than a Pub Live! will be the first place to hear all about a new programme of funding and support for Community Pubs, which goes live later this year. Join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter now and on the day by using #MTAP19

Love the pub nearby? Interested in learning about ways to keep your local open, for the benefit of your community? This FREE event is for you.

You might be right at the beginning of your own project, deep into the process of setting-up a community-owned pub or have already opened your pub doors. More than a Pub Live! will have something for everyone.

Our very own “Pub Landlord” for the day Mark Newcombe from the Craufurd Arms will be on hand to offer you a warm welcome to this interactive, learning event. Mark will be propping up the pop-up “pub bar” during the day and will be available to chat with anyone who’d like to find out more about the Craufurd Arms story. Mark, along with others, who have brought their loved local into community ownership, will be around all day to share the ups and downs of their own journeys – which ultimately meant that their local pubs weren’t calling “Last Orders!” – and are now thriving businesses once more

In the morning there will be opportunity to take part in our BIG discussion on the Future of Community Pubs, facilitated by renowned speaker; Guy Browning ‘The David Attenborough of the Business Jungle’

There will be lots of opportunities to chat and network with like-minded folk and at lunch and there’ll even be an opportunity to take part in our “Pub Quiz”.

Whilst at MTAP live! you’lll be able to move around the event, find a corner for a catch up, meet expert exhibitors and find out more about the support available to your project. We’ll be starving off the post lunch slump with workshops and other activities to keep conversation flowing, including:

  • Settle in “Tasha’s Snug” for the launch of Community Pubs Membership
  • Watch our Case Study Films in the Community Cinema
Hear from Nathan Brown about Governance and Succession in our “Tips on Tap” area

Finally, the day will end with news about future funding and support for the Community Pub sector and a “toast” to those running pubs up and down the country!

Please feel free to extend this invitation to tenants and managers of your Community Owned pubs too.
