Chair of Trustees

The Plunkett Foundation is seeking a dynamic new Chair in 2020 as the charity successfully continues to deliver its bold plans to grow the profile of the rural community business sector.

We are seeking a Chair with a genuine commitment to community businesses, a clear understanding of rural issues, interest in innovative and new ways of working, and the skills and experience to move the charity forwards.

The Plunkett Foundation, having just celebrated its centenary year, is now at a pivotal point in delivering its strategy. Having laid the foundations of this strategy, we have clear plans for growing the sector, expanding our relevance and national reach, increasing our impact and influence, and strengthening our voice and policy role.

As our current Chair, Margaret Clark CBE, retires in 2020: we seek someone with passion for our mission, professional expertise and networks to support the Board, CEO, members and staff to advocate Plunkett’s vision.

Potential candidates are requested to express an interest in the role by contacting Victoria Smith at and to arrange a conversation with our CEO James Alcock.

Alternatively, please feel free to apply by submitting your CV and short letter of application.
