Frequently asked questions
We’re asking for a £5 per person entry fee to take part in Walk for Plunkett which you pay when you sign-up.
Walk for Plunkett will be taking place over the 6th to 8th May 2022, and you’re invited to do your miles anytime over that weekend. However, if you can’t make that weekend but would still like to get involved, you can – just let us know your chosen date when registering so we can be sure to wish you luck on your walk.
There’s no set distance to walk, so whether you can walk one mile, five miles or even 30 miles, every step you take will be helping Plunkett to continue being there for rural communities across the UK who are beginning their community-ownership journey and beyond.
Your walk can be whichever route you wish to take – just remember to stay safe, keeping to footpaths and pavements and avoiding busy main roads. You may wish to incorporate visiting local community-owned businesses on your walk, so why not take a look at our Community Business Map to find community businesses near to you.
We’re asking each Walk for Plunkett participant to raise a minimum of £100. But don’t worry you can still take part even if you don’t reach the target, but we do encourage you to aim to raise £100 if you can.
If you’re stuck for fundraising ideas why not check out our Walk for Plunkett handy guide to help you kick-start your fundraising or have a look at our Fundraising Guide for ways to help you reach your target.
Don’t forget, we’re here to help so please do get in touch with us at fundraising@plunkett.co.uk or on 01993 630246, and we’ll help you get your fundraising off the ground.
We recommend you create a JustGiving fundraising page to collect your sponsorship, which you can do here. Or if you prefer, you can download a Walk for Plunkett sponsorship form to record your sponsorship. If you’re using a sponsorship form, please do not send your collected cash through the post. Please contact us on fundraising@plunkett.co.uk to find out how to get your monies to us.
As a charity, Plunkett relies on the generosity of individuals, corporates and funders to ensure we can continue being a source of support for communities up and down the UK. Every penny that you raise will mean we can be there for the communities who need us the most – whether they’re at the beginning stages of their journey towards community-ownership, or they’re already open and trading.
Your fundraising efforts will help fund a range of support, including:
- A support helpline
- Free one-to-one support from Plunkett Advisers
- Advice and guidance relating to legal structures including assistance with establishing a Community Benefit Society with Plunkett Foundation Model Rules
- Learning & information events, as well as training opportunities
- Online networking opportunities
- Bespoke resources and templates
However much you raise, the very biggest thank you.
Yes of course, we’re here to support your Walk for Plunkett adventures – if you need help with getting your fundraising off the ground or plotting your route to incorporate other community businesses, just get in touch on fundraising@plunkett.co.uk and we’ll gladly help where we can.
