Becoming a member

We’re proud of the work we do to help communities set up and run community businesses

Becoming a member of Plunkett makes a vital contribution to sustaining our service and, importantly, offers you the chance to inform the development of our service and shape our views and work. We have two membership packages, so you can choose the one that will suit you best.

Supporter membership

Supporter membership is for any individual or organisation who shares our values and wants to support us. Becoming a supporter member means you are directly helping us to have an even greater impact in all areas, from the practical help we provide to communities to our work in providing a voice for rural communities amongst policy makers, support organisations and communities themselves.

Becoming a member means you join a growing number of like-minded people and organisations all working together to help communities set up and run community businesses as a way of overcoming a range of challenges. In addition members also receive:

  • A monthly newsletter tailored specifically for members
  • Information on all our publications and events before anyone else
  • Bespoke member events and reduced ticket prices for all Plunkett events
  • The opportunity to shape our views and work

  • £20 for individuals per year
  • £150 for organisations

Community Business Membership

We’ve been the voice of rural community business since 1919, and we know that establishing and running a community business can bring a wide range of benefits for communities, but it can also bring challenges. This is why we’ve established our bespoke membership package for community businesses called the Plunkett Community Business Network. Becoming a member gives you greater access to information and advice (whether that’s from specialist support providers like us, or from other community businesses), it enables you to collaborate in the market place for better deals, and it helps you to reduce running costs. We also actively encourage our members to help us develop our services to make sure we’re continuing to meet the needs of the sector.

Thanks to our experience we’ve been able to negotiate a wide range of goods and services at preferential terms and rates with suppliers, allowing our members to save valuable time and money.

This page provides information about those suppliers, and how to find out more about the products and/or services they offer. We’ve provided their contact details so you can get in touch with them before deciding whether or not to become a member, to make sure you’re getting the best deal for your community.

As well as receiving all the supporter membership benefits, PCCN members also receive bespoke information and/or deals on the following:

  • Plunkett Foundation Benefits including invitation to attend our AGM, a free Health Check from one of our specialist team, updating your Model Rules for free and discounted event tickets. We’ll also help you to register as a Community Benefit Society using our Model Rules.
  • Loan Providers – Ecology Building Society, Triodos Bank, Charity Bank and Co-operative and Community Finance.
  • Energy from Co-operative Group Energy Procurement and Management Bureau Service.
  • Accountancy from David Cadwallader and Co Limited.
  • Insurance from The Retail Mutual.
  • Telephone and Broadband from The Co-operative Business Telecoms.
  • Volunteer Management from Three Rings Online Volunteer Rota System
  • Newspaper Sub Retailing from NFRN
  • Wholesale from Suma Wholefoods, Cotswold Fayre, Wine Box Company (WBC) and Spaul and Sons.
  • A directory of suppliers of shop fixtures, fittings and refrigeration.
