WALX offers the opportunity to set up a Community Health, Fitness & Wellbeing programme, delivered by the local community for the local community.
WALX is an award-winning organisation that has worked with over 200 community projects across the UK. We provide a bespoke, full turnkey programme that gets results – for physical health and fitness, for mental wellbeing and for social interaction. As a primarily outdoor programme, indoor space is not required although there is the opportunity to increase usage of an existing community hub (e.g., local shop, pub, community hall).
The WALX Team will assist with an evaluation process, recommendations for appropriate model and a robust plan for launch and implementation. We work with the Community to consider the demographic profiling, the geographical location, objectives and explore all potential opportunities.
The Programme can be run as a Not-for-Profit or Charity, and offers:
o a new career or business for local community members
o a solution to partnering with the local GP/NHS Social Prescribing initiatives
o diversification of facilities or land
o enhancing tourism
The service offered to Plunkett Foundation members includes:
• Location Evaluation – including:
o Partnerships / funding opportunities
o Identifying community members to lead and inspire others to participate
o Determining training requirements
o Identifying suitable delivery locations
o Demographic profiling to understand age, ethnicity and barriers to participation
• Training, support & mentoring– including:
o Setting up and managing a community team
o Promoting an effective health and wellbeing message
o Delivering safe exercise
o Health screening & risk assessment
• Management & Booking – including:
o A dedicated management and booking system, website, blog page & app
o Integration to social media accounts
o A Marketing Tool Kit with blended delivery for diverse cohorts within the community, from ethical print to digital communication
o A Loyalty, Rewards & Retention programme
