As we near our Walk for Plunkett weekend of the 6th to 8th May, Plunkett supporters and colleagues are busy planning their routes and getting in their practise miles in readiness for this year’s Walk for Plunkett campaign.

Walk for Plunkett invites you to join us by walking whatever distance you can to raise money that will support the work Plunkett does in helping communities who are facing the loss of a local service, be that a pub, shop, farm, woodland or even fishery.

It’s with Plunkett’s help and guidance, alongside a range of training and networking opportunities that communities are empowered to create thriving, inclusive and impactful community businesses that are owned and run by the community, for direct benefit of the community. Through community ownership communities are able to directly tackle the issues facing them around isolation and loneliness and access to services, whilst also providing much-needed local employment and training opportunities.

Joining the Plunkett team in walking some miles is Architect and TV presenter, Charlie Luxton, who will be taking in Ilmington Community Shop on his Walk for Plunkett route, on the 8th May. Charlie shared this message of support for the campaign.

There’s still time to sign up to Walk for Plunkett at www.plunkett.co.uk/walk-for-plunkett. If you’re not able to join us in walking, but would like to show your support you can make a donation to the Walk for Plunkett campaign at www.justgiving.com/campaign/WalkforPlunkett2022.

Whether you walk one mile, five miles or 25 miles or you make a donation, thank you. It’s only thanks to the kindness of individuals, companies and funders that Plunkett can remain on hand to support hundreds of communities up and down the UK.
