Thank you for joining our walking challenge #WalkForPlunkett

Last weekend a team of Plunkett staff and supporters – from community businesses, through to individuals, business members and partners took on the Walk for Plunkett challenge. Joining us, as we attempted to reach our walking target of 1,000 miles, they helped us to raise money and awareness of our work to support and provide expert guidance to community groups across the UK.

As more and more communities are facing the loss of a local shop, pub or service, more communities are looking to Plunkett to help them on their journey to community ownership.

Working together we raised an amazing £7,500, so far, that will go towards helping new community businesses safeguard the services and places that really matter to them. However, just as importantly, we collectively walked over 1,020 miles allowing us to reconnect with community businesses along the way. We met, exchanged experiences and joined together in our shared passion for community-owned businesses that make a lasting difference to the lives of those they serve.

We want to celebrate all those who took part and extend a heartfelt thank you to those who walked, fundraised, donated and cheered us on. Walking and working together we achieved amazing results and we invite more supporters to host their own fundraising activity or take part in our other challenge events, including the Three Peaks. If you couldn’t take part in this year’s Walk for Plunkett then there’s still time to donate – thank you.
