Through fundraising we can help more rural communities into next year and beyond

As the Christmas season arrives, Plunkett is proud to celebrate the spirit and warmth that community-owned businesses bring to the people they serve. These businesses ensure that no one is forgotten and everyone feels a sense of belonging.

December 3rd marks the celebration of the International Day of Giving, also known as Giving Tuesday. This global day of generosity encourages people to donate to worthy causes, volunteer their time, and spread kindness.

Like any charity, Plunkett UK relies on the generous support of individuals, corporates and funding groups to ensure the future of services. Every penny helps us continue being on hand to help every community looking to set-up and run a community-owned business.

A generous year of fundraising!

2024 has so far been a wonderful year of fundraising at Plunkett UK, and we can’t thank our supporters enough, and everyone who has donated to us and their causes! We’ve gratefully recieved more than £24,000 through various fundraising activities.

Central Co-op’s Three Peaks challenge in July raised over £8,000 by completing the challenge in just 25 hours. Penny and Jenny’s Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge brought in a fantastic £400, and our Communications Manager, Andrew Dubock, ran the Oxford Half Marathon, raising more than £750.

At Plunkett’s Charity Auction in October, sponsored by Wise Investment and hosted by the wonderful Charlie Ross, we raised almost £15,000 thanks to the incredible auction lots donated and to everyone who submitted their bids!

Thank you to Penny and Jenny for taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge!

Looking ahead, we are excited to be one of 10 Oxfordshire-based charities benefiting from a unique Christmas party on December 13. Raise’24, a new festive fundraiser organised by the B4 network group, will inspire Oxfordshire businesses to form up to 75 teams to raise money for local charities.

Festive Fundraising – How you can give over the Christmas period

Easyfundraising is an easy way to raise money for community businesses

You can also support us by signing up for the easyfundraising Advent Calendar to bring some festive cheer. Open the Advent windows throughout December for daily chances to win up to £200 for your community business. Each window opened is an automatic entry to win a grand Christmas Day prize of £1,000!

Did you know easyfundraising isn’t just for Christmas? It’s a year-round fundraising solution for your community business. Through easyfundraising, 8,000 retailers, including eBay, John Lewis, Tesco, M&S, Trainline, and many more, will donate money to you when volunteers and supporters shop with easyfundraising for items they cannot buy in their local shop.

12 days of giving with Movement for Good Awards

Another way you can support Plunkett this Christmas is to nominate us to win a £1,000 Movement for Good Award from Benefact Group. Please submit your nomination by 19th December; it only takes one minute to complete. The more nominations Plunkett receives the more chance we have of winning the prize!

Could you get involved in fundraising for Plunkett during December?

Every donation makes a difference: £20 can help fund the Plunkett team to offer advice to a new community group, while £100 could support a free consultation call for a community business. Your generosity can help us continue to foster resilient and inclusive communities!
