Britain’s fifth biggest supermarket, Morrisons, have teamed up with Plunkett UK to offer our member community businesses a free year-round delivery pass.

This service is ideal for ‘top-up-shops’ – when products are required in smaller volumes than the large wholesalers sell them in. It enables our community businesses to get chilled, ambient and frozen goods delivered direct, cutting back on the need for volunteers to do stock collections.

With a small minimum order requirement of just £25, and ad hoc ordering, this service gives community shops the opportunity to extend their range and trial new products without having to commit to whole cases of stock for each item.

All products can be ordered in singles and all community shops (except for selected Scottish Highlands and Islands shops) are eligible for the to-the-door delivery service.

It’s a simple sign-up process for a business-to-business account and a ‘Morrisons More’ Card, with no commitment or contract involved.

“We are excited to launch this new partnership with Plunkett UK and its fantastic community-owned shop network, which builds on our close relationship with other small businesses, food banks, charities, schools and nurseries.

“We hope our free delivery pass will take the cost and stress out of top-up ordering and allow community shops to be more flexible so they can extend their range, relieve some pressure from volunteers and maintain their amazing offering for local customers.”

The launch of this delivery deal follows immediately after Plunkett’s Future of Rural Retail Report. It highlighted how hard it can be for rural community-owned shops to get wholesale stock deliveries, and offered considerations and recommendations, as well as a commitment from Plunkett to continue offering support for members to meet their ongoing needs.

Laura Olver, Plunkett Membership Manager says, “We are delighted to have secured this fantastic offer with Morrisons exclusively for our valued community business members.

“From talking regularly with our members, and especially through producing our Future of Rural Retail Report, we know that a number of community shops have growing challenges related to product supply, delivery and minimum order levels.

“As a highly respected, well-priced supermarket, which really understands our members’ needs, we are confident that the Morrisons free delivery pass will be a real help for many community shops. It will enable shop managers and volunteers to order stock top-ups easily, as required, and delivered direct, so shops can continue to be resilient and thriving businesses playing a vital role at the very centre of their rural community.”
