The Energy Action Group

The Plunkett Foundation has recently joined the Energy Action Group to deliver Group Buying and supplementary energy services to its Members. Rising energy costs continue to be a problem for Charities and Community Businesses.

Charities and Community Businesses need to explore ways of reducing energy costs, and crucially, their energy consumption. In the first instance, the Plunkett Energy Action Group will enable your organisation to bring down gas and electricity costs by more efficient and economical energy buying.

All Plunkett members are welcome to join the scheme and obtain free, no obligation energy quotes. The Energy Buying Group has a proven track record of providing outstanding gas and electricity quotes for its members; prices which were otherwise unavailable to individual organisations. Several hundred UK Charities and Community Businesses are members of the EAG annual buying basket.

How can the Plunkett Energy Action Group help you?

The Plunkett Energy Action Group provides a tailored service for UK Charities and Community Businesses to cut energy costs and gain energy advice. Working in partnership with other non-profit organisations, the Plunkett EAG helps organisations of all types and sizes address their most pressing energy issues.

  • Work with an Energy Management Company to reduce your consumption

How does Collective Energy Purchasing Actually Work?

Once a year Plunkett EAG runs a group energy buying basket in conjunction with other like-minded organisations with contracts starting at the same time. The principle is simple and relies on good buying relationships and well organised bulk tendering.

Members are free to participate as they choose and can decide on the offer that suits them best. You will find that EAG group buying can really help cut energy costs and provide additional cash-flow to help your organisation grow. Take a look at the Energy Action Group FAQ page for more information.

How do I sign up?

Joining the Plunkett Energy Action Group is easy and free of charge. The group will manage all the negotiations in getting the best energy prices for you, leaving you free to run your organisation.

To join the Plunkett Energy Action group, all you need to do is complete a Letter of Authority and send it, along with a scanned copy of your latest energy bill, to the Plunkett Energy Action Group (EAG).

The Letter of Authority gives the EAG authority to review your current energy bill and obtain energy prices on your behalf. To complete the Letter of Authority you need to print a copy onto your organisation’s headed paper, sign it and send a scanned version back to the Energy Action Group, along with a copy of your latest energy bill.

Is your organisation benefiting from Reduced Rate VAT on Energy?

Reduced VAT rate on Utilities for Charities and Not-for-Profits

There are potentially thousands of Charities and Not-for-Profit organisations all across the UK that are paying too much for their energy bills. Energy suppliers usually treat charities like small businesses when it comes to energy bills, but wrongly so. Unlike small businesses, charities are entitled to certain discounts on their energy bills. Find out if you qualify

What happens next?

We will review your energy bills, contact your current supplier, and check your consumption, your meters and site details.

When we contact your current supplier, we will request that you are not put on a higher tariff as you enter your contract renewal period; this is known as terminating your contract. You might find your current supplier sends a new quote at this point, but you should not sign up for a new contract until a range of competitive offers are obtained. If you do decide to change energy suppliers, you will not be cut off!

And then?

We will be in contact with no obligation energy quotes which you can sign up for as an individual organisation.

Any future energy contract will be designed end on the same date as all other EAG members

Following this you will be able to join the annual EAG energy basket at the next contract end date.
