Join the Plunkett team to climb the three highest peaks in Yorkshire in support of community businesses across the UK

Join the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge as we climb the three highest peaks in Yorkshire to raise money for Plunkett’s work in supporting community-owned businesses.

As a result of current rising costs, it’s estimated that 1 in five businesses are vulnerable due to the financial pressures they face.

Join us for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to climb the three highest mountains in Yorkshire, Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m) in 12 hours raising funds for Plunkett to continue supporting rural communities across the UK. You will be helping to ensure that Plunkett can remain on hand to continue offering free business advice and support to help community businesses so they can continue being a vital lifeline for their own communities.

How it works

  • 2. Kick-start your fundraising by setting up your own JustGiving fundraising page   

  • 3. Start letting family, friends and work colleagues know about your Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, inviting them to sponsor you or join you on your walking adventure

  • 4. Get a training plan in place. Useful tips and advice are available for you from the following Training Guide 

  • 5. Ensure you’ve got the right kit. This Kit List offers an insight into the type of equipment you’ll need to support your challenge

  • 6. Then count down to September when you’ll be ready to start your amazing walking challenge

Frequently asked questions

The cost to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is £70.

Accommodation is available and will cost £90.00 per person per night for twin accommodation (requires two people) or £160.00 per night for single room.

On the 21st September, Plunkett supporters will take part in the spectacular Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge when keen adventurers will be able to take on the three highest peaks in Yorkshire, climbing the mountains Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). The aim of the challenge is to walk 24 mile route within 12 hours!

Itinerary 

  • You will meet an expert mountain leader in Horton-in-Ribblesdale ready to begin your walking challenge.  Your chosen route will ascend the mountains in the following order Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough before making your final descent back to Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

This itinerary is a guide only. It can be subject to change dependent upon viability, course members’ fitness, weather conditions, accommodation availability, or for any other reason the guide may deem necessary. Every effort is made to fit the course around your needs and abilities.

We’ll be hosting the challenge alongside expert adventurers, Maximum Adventure who will coordinate all the logistics and provide expert mountain guides to guide you on the walking route.
