Community shops can sometimes take months, even years, to go from the initial idea to opening the doors. But in Brent Knoll, Somerset, when the coronavirus crisis struck the community decided they needed the shop immediately - and managed to open their 'emergency shop' shop in days.
New emergency support which aims to help community businesses facing a loss of trading income in light of the COVID-19 crisis has been announced by Plunkett's partner organisation Power to Change.
A dedicated programme of support has been launched by the Plunkett Foundation with funding from the Co-op to support rural community businesses across the UK.
